I was reminiscing through my pictures of our road trip to Rome. We stopped off in Montepulciano and visited the surrounding areas.
Montepulciano is a medieval and Renaissance hill town in the province of Siena in southern Tuscany, Italy. The wines from this area are fantastic!
We also visited Pieza which is full of pecorino. Pienza is located in the Val d’Orcia in Tuscany between the towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino. It is considered to be the touchstone of Renaissance urbanism.
There are many cheese shops you can visit for a tasting with wine from the area.
The streets were full of flowers and my favorite flowers hydrangeas. Giulia decided to pose with the pink hydrangea bush.
Montepulciano is so breathtaking with its views.
The village is so much fun with all of the wine shops you can venture into for a taste.
There are so many treasures in Italy beyond the cities everyone is familiar with. If you can make it work try taking a road trip instead of plane or train and stop off and get to know the areas you travel through. You will not regret it!
