Description

I am diving into the world of tartines and discovering how fun, clever and convenient they are to make.

Tartines are French open faced sandwiches that are made with rustic slices of bread.

In a world where time seems to escape us I think tartines are the perfect way to pull something together quickly. I like that it’s rustic, artistic, tasty and can be whatever you want it to be. You really have creative freedom with it.

Note: If you have children get them involved. Mine love to layer their toppings. It’s also a good way to get them into peas, beans, and other veggies that turn into artistic material.

The base is country bread slices with a spread. The possibilities are endless. You can drizzle honey, layer with shrimp, or sliced radishes and even avocados. Sprinkle with chives, parsley or your favorite herb and in an instance you have a tasty beautiful meal.

They are perfect all year round. Enjoy in the Summer with salads and in the Winter with a warm bowl of soup.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

Scale

4 Country bread slices (2 per person)
9 oz Goat cheese that’s spreadable
4 slices prosciutto
4 fresh figs
1/4 cup of peas

Instructions

1. Place the bread slices under the broil for a few min, until toasted. Remove.

2. Spread the goat cheese on each slice.

3. Top with sliced figs and 1 slice of prosciutto, decorate with peas along the side.

4. For fun all a few springs of thyme for visual.

Serve with your favorite salad or soup.
